    The state on Thursday recorded four deaths due to COVID-19 pushing the death toll to 762.

    According to the Director of Health Services (MI) Dr Aman War, two deaths were reported from East Jaintia Hills district and one each from West Garo Hills district and West Jaintia Hills district.

    The state has also recorded 478 new COVID-19 cases and with this, the total number of active cases stands at 4,609.

    Dr War said the new cases include 189 in East Khasi Hills, 60 West Garo Hills, 43 East Garo Hills, 37 West Jaintia Hills, 35 South Garo Hills, 24 South West Khasi Hills, 20 North Garo Hills, 19 West Khasi Hills, 19 East Jaintia Hills, 17 Ri Bhoi and 15 South West Garo Hills.

    He also informed that 329 patients have also recovered from the viral infection during the past 24 hours.

    Of these, 107 are from East Khasi Hills, 89 West Jaintia Hills, 50 West Garo Hills, 25 Ri Bhoi, 17 South West Garo Hills, 15 East Garo Hills, 8 South West Khasi Hills, 6 East Jaintia Hills, 6 South Garo Hills, 4 North Garo Hills and 2 West Khasi Hills.

    So far, the state has detected a total of 43,732 COVID-19 cases out of which 4,609 are active cases, 38,361 recovered and 762 deaths.

    With 1,583 active COVID-19 cases, East Khasi Hills, that includes state capital Shillong, is the worst affected district in the state, followed by West Garo Hills with 708 cases and 531 West Jaintia Hills.

    There are 359 cases in Ri Bhoi, 300 South West Khasi Hills, 271 North Garo Hills, 236 South West Garo Hills, 214 East Garo Hills, 176 West Khasi Hills, 148 South Garo Hills and 83 East Jaintia Hills.
