    The state on Monday recorded 8 COVID-19 related deaths, pushing the death toll to 1,031 in the state.

    According to Director of Health Services (MI) Dr Aman War, all are from East Khasi Hills district.

    He said the state also detected 569 new cases. These include 173 in East Khasi Hills, 85 Ri Bhoi, 80 West Jaintia Hills, 74 West Garo Hills, 52 West Khasi Hills, 9 East Jaintia Hills, 8 South West Garo Hills, 6 North Garo Hills, 6 South Garo Hills and 4 East Garo Hills.

    Dr War also informed that 485 persons have recovered from the viral infection.

    Of these, 155 are from East Khasi Hills, 100 West Garo Hills, 69 West Jaintia Hills, 53 Ri Bhoi, 34 South West Khasi Hills, 26 West Khasi Hills, 16 North Garo Hills, 13 East Garo Hills, 9 South West Garo Hills, 8 South Garo Hills and 2 East Jaintia Hills.

    So far, the state has detected a total of 61,763 COVID-19 cases out of which 5,084 are active cases, 55,648 recovered and 1,031 deaths.

    With 1,807 active COVID-19 cases, East Khasi Hills, that includes state capital Shillong, is the worst affected district in the state, followed by West Garo Hills with 919 cases and Ri Bhoi with 630 cases.

    There are 335 cases in West Jaintia Hills, 335 West Khasi Hills, 326 South West Khasi Hills, 140 North Garo Hills, 99 East Garo Hills, 97 East Jaintia Hills, 92 South West Garo Hills and 89 South Garo Hills.
