Meghalaya logs 540 new COVID-19 cases, 9 deaths
The state on Sunday recorded 9 COVID-19 related deaths, pushing the death toll to 1,163 in the state.
According to Director of Health Services (MI) Dr Aman War, 5 deaths were reported from East Khasi Hills district, 2 from Ri Bhoi district and 1 each from West Garo Hills district and East Jaintia Hills district.
Dr War said the state has also detected 540 new COVID-19 cases.
These include 226 in East Khasi Hills, 82 West Khasi Hills, 34 West Garo Hills, 82 Ri Bhoi, 52 West Jaintia Hills, 4 East Garo Hills, 1 North Garo Hills, 5 East Jaintia Hills, 1 South Garo Hills and 5 South West Garo Hills.
Dr War also informed that 817 persons have recovered from the viral infection.
Of these, 444 East Khasi Hills, 103 West Garo Hills, 30 West Jaintia Hills, 99 West Khasi Hills, 7 East Garo Hills, 14 North Garo Hills, 5 South Garo Hills, 6 South West Garo Hills, 6 East Jaintia Hills, 74 Ri Bhoi and 29 South West Khasi Hills.
So far, the state has detected a total of 69,171 COVID-19 cases out of which 5,037 are active cases, 62,971 recovered and 1,163 deaths.
With 1,926 active COVID-19 cases, East Khasi Hills, that includes state capital Shillong, is the worst affected district in the state, followed by West Khasi Hills with 827 and West Garo Hills with 635 cases.
There are 556 cases in West Jaintia Hills, 509 Ri Bhoi, 249 South West Khasi Hills, 84 East Jaintia Hills, 67 North Garo Hills, 69 East Garo Hills, 59 South Garo Hills and 56 South West Garo Hills.
