  • Meghalaya logs 384 new COVID-19 cases, 13 deaths

    The state on Friday recorded 13 COVID-19 related deaths, pushing the death toll to 1,213 in the state.

    According to Director of Health Services (MI) Dr Aman War, 9 were reported from East Khasi Hills district and 1 each from Ri Bhoi district, West Garo Hills district, West Jaintia Hills district and West Khasi Hills district.

    Dr War said the state has also detected 384 new COVID-19 cases.

    These include 146 in East Khasi Hills, 47 West Khasi Hills, 47 West Garo Hills, 40 Ri Bhoi, 53 West Jaintia Hills, 4 East Garo Hills, 3 North Garo Hills, 2 East Jaintia Hills, 3 South Garo Hills and 4 South West Garo Hills.

    Dr War also informed that 397 persons have recovered from the viral infection.

    Of these, 87 East Khasi Hills, 105 West Garo Hills, 53 West Jaintia Hills, 83 West Khasi Hills, 7 East Garo Hills, 11 North Garo Hills, 7 South Garo Hills, 11 South West Garo Hills, 19 East Jaintia Hills, 6 Ri Bhoi and 8 South West Khasi Hills.

    So far, the state has detected a total of 71,045 COVID-19 cases out of which 4,513 are active cases, 65,319 recovered and 1,213 deaths.

    With 1,953 active COVID-19 cases, East Khasi Hills, that includes state capital Shillong, is the worst affected district in the state, followed by West Khasi Hills with 652 and West Garo Hills with 492 cases.

    There are 417 cases in West Jaintia Hills, 494 Ri Bhoi, 266 South West Khasi Hills, 48 East Jaintia Hills, 49 North Garo Hills, 51 East Garo Hills, 40 South West Garo Hills and 51 South Garo Hills.
