The Meghalaya Government has issued an order making it mandatory for all hotels, lodges, homestays, resorts, and business buildings in Shillong and nearby areas to obtain a No Objection Certificate (NOC) from the Fire Service Organization.

As per the notification issued by C.V.D Diengdoh, IAS, Secretary of the Home Police Department, it states: “In pursuance of Section 13(1) and Section 15(1) of the Meghalaya Fire & Emergency Service Act, 2012, and in the interest of public safety, the Governor of Meghalaya is pleased to order that all buildings within Shillong city and its adjoining areas being used as hotels, lodges, homestays, resorts, and business establishments must obtain a compulsory NOC from the Fire Service Organization.”

This move aims to enhance fire safety and ensure the well-being of both residents and visitors. Building owners are urged to comply with this order to meet safety standards and avoid penalties.
