Tembe directed all schools against organizing any outdoor activities or sports in case the area is impacted by severe heat wave and also during any future instances of heat waves.
The Director instructed that adequate hydration facilities must be available throughout the school premises, including access to drinking water and shaded areas.
Tembe directed the schools to ensure that all students stay hydrated by drinking water regularly and also directed that provision of ORS lemon water should be made available in case some students face dehydration.
The Director informed that all students should be encouraged to bring a water bottic with them. Hydration breaks can be notified by schools as per their convenience
Tembe directed that prolonged exposure to heat especially during 12 pm to 3 pm should be avoided. Students should be encouraged to use caps or umbrellas while coming to and going from schools.
It should also be ensured that students do not walk barefoot inside or near the school premises.
In cases of severe dehydration, the student should be immediately taken to the nearest health facility
Collaboration with local authorities, emergency services, and healthcare providers is essential for effective heat wave preparedness and response. All schools are directed to be in touch with the nearest health facility and to keep their contact details handy.
