The state education department will soon place before the Cabinet its proposal for regularising the services of over 12,541 SSA teachers in the state.

This was informed by the president of the Meghalaya SSA Schools Association (MSSASA) Aristotle C Rymbai after the general executive council meeting of the association held on Saturday.

“After our meeting  with the Director of School Education and Literacy and State Project Director of SSA, Swapnil Tembe on September 10 and after we met the Commissioner & Secretary Vijay Mantri on September 19, both have informed us that the state government is preparing a cabinet memorandum for regularisation of services or to merge the SSA teachers from the State Implementation Society to the education department,” Rymbai said in a video statement.

He said the issues related to the demand for salary enhancement and regularisation of the services of SSA teachers were taken up during the GEC meeting.

“After threadbare discussion, which lasted almost 3 hours, we unanimously decided to opt for regularisation of our services and resolved to take up this matter in the general meeting of all SSA teachers in Meghalaya, to be held on October at Madan Student, Jaiaw. Therefore, we appeal to all SSA teachers to attend the meeting so that we can take a final decision on the matter,” Rymbai added.
