Meghalaya declares three day state mourning for former Chief Minister Salseng C. Marak
The Meghalaya Government has declared a three-day state mourning starting from Friday in honour of former Chief Minister Salseng C. Marak, who passed away at Tura on Friday morning.
As a mark of respect, all state government offices throughout Meghalaya will observe the mourning period. During this time, the national flag will be flown at half-mast at all locations where it is regularly displayed, and no official entertainment will be held.
Salseng C. Marak, who served as Chief Minister from 1993 to 1998, was a veteran politician and a key figure in the state’s political landscape. His contributions to the development of Meghalaya are widely recognized, and his demise is being mourned across the state.
