  • Meghalaya COVID-19: Seven villages declared Containment Zone in Amlarem Sub Division

    The District Magistrate, West Jaintia Hills District has declared seven villages under Amlarem Assembly Constituency as Containment Zones for detecting high risk contacts as to contain the spread of COVID-19 in the district.

    The order prohibited unregulated entry and exit movement to the seven villages including Amlarem, Krangpamtdong, Amsarim, Ladjaplem, Amshipai, Lai Lyngdoh and Amlatdoh from midnight of 22nd July, 2020 to 6.00 AM of 27th July, 2020.

    The order issued was by the district magistrate Garod LSN Dykes on the recommendation of the health department.

    The health department has reported that there are three new COVID-19 positive patients who are the inhabitants of Amlarem Civil Sub-Division, West Jaintia Hills District.

    The seven villages which has declared as containment zone is Amlarem, Krangpamtdong, Amsarim, Ladjaplem, Amshipai, Lai Lyngdoh and Amlatdoh.

    “It has become necessary to contain the disease within a defined geographic area so as to restrict unregulated entry and exit movement on site with the following measures for due compliance by the public w.e.f July 22 midnight to 6 am of July 27, in the interest of public to break the chain of transmissions and thus preventing its spread to new areas. And also to enable the Health & Family Welfare Department to trace the contacts and active search for cases through physical house to house surveillance by special teams,” the order said.
