Meghalaya beats Arunachal Pradesh 4-3 in Santosh Trophy opener
Meghalaya staged a stunning comeback to defeat Arunachal Pradesh 4-3 in their first Group E match of the Senior Men’s National Football Championship for the Santosh Trophy 2024-25. The match took place in Nalbari, Assam, on November 20.
Overkindness L Mawnai scored early for Meghalaya in the 8th minute, but Arunachal replied with goals from Omang Dodum (15′) and Tagru James (45’+1), taking the lead by halftime. Arunachal extended their lead to 3-1 with Tarh Dolu’s 61st-minute strike.
Meghalaya’s captain Fullmoon Mukhim then scored in the 63rd minute, followed by Robertson Khongriah’s equalizer in the 65th minute. Fullmoon sealed the win with another goal in the 83rd minute, earning the Player of the Match award.
Nagaland defeated hosts Assam 2-1 in the other Group E match. Meghalaya will face Nagaland next at 9 am on Friday.
