MCS officer dies after suffering heart attack in his office

SHILLONG: A senior Meghalaya Civil Service (MCS) officer DM Wahlang on Tuesday passed away after suffering from a severe heart attack in his office chamber at the Additional Secretariat in the city.

The incident took place at around quarter to one in the afternoon, East Khasi Hills Deputy Commissioner Abhishek Bhagotia said.

Wahlang had just recently joined as the Joint Secretary of the Urban Affairs department after he was transferred as ADC of West Jaintia Hills District.

The DC said Wahlang had a severe heart attack in his office chamber and was immediately rushed to the Shillong Civil Hospital on a 108 Ambulance.

“However, he was declared brought dead. Though immediately the 108 ambulance came but not much could be done…” Bhagotia said.

Asked, the DC informed that the officer’s mortal remains have been taken to his residence at Kench’s Trace.
