Serving an ultimatum of seven days for clearing the waterlogging from Lumshnong Market to Lumshnong PS along National Highway-6, the Narpuh Border Areas Joint Action Committee on Wednesday warned to shut down the toll plaza at Lumshnong, East Jaintia Hills District if their demands are not met by NHAI.

In a letter to the Deputy Commissioner, East Jaintia Hills District, the Narpuh Border Area Joint Action Committee (NBAJAC) informed that every year during the summer/rainy season the said stretch of roads along the National Highway are flooded with rainwater.

The flooding of water adversely affects the public passing and travelling through this road as they had to stop their vehicles and wait for hours and blocked the traffic and even causes damages to public vehicles.

The NBAJAC said that if the problem is not solved within the period of one week, the public of Narpuh area will be compel to close down the Toll Gate at Lumshnong as they cannot simply collect the toll fees from the public without proper maintaining of roads, drainage system and etc.
