    West Jaintia Hills district joined in celebrating the 52nd statehood day of Meghalaya at the District Library Auditorium in Mynthong, organized by the office of the Deputy Commissioner, Jowai on Saturday. Lahkmen Rymbui, MLA of 7-Amlarem constituency, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest.

    FB Basan, Additional Deputy Commissioner, B Blah, Additional Deputy Commissioner, C Syrti, Superintendent of Police, WJHs, HH Mohrmen, a prominent citizen of Jowai, and District Heads attended the function.

    Greeting everyone on this special day, Lahkmen Rymbui acknowledged the selfless contribution of the state founders. He called upon every citizen of the district to be responsible individuals and embrace positivity for the collective development of the district.

    He apprised the citizens of the various developmental work and achievements of the government in the fields of education, health, and infrastructure. He exhorted the youth to refrain from drug abuse and social media pitfalls, urging them instead to utilize the various government schemes available for their benefit.

    FB Basan, ADC, through a PowerPoint presentation, highlighted the various developmental activities undertaken by different departments of the district.

    B Blah, Additional Deputy Commissioner, in her introductory speech, gave a brief description of the formation of the statehood of Meghalaya.

    S Phanbuh, Assistant Commissioner, provided a brief history of the district. HH Mohrmen, a prominent citizen of the district, also spoke on the occasion.

    The toppers from the district, Reesa EE Christine Suting of North Liberty Higher Secondary School, who secured the 11th position in SSLC and Larisa Lamin of Adventist Higher Secondary School, Thadlaskein, who secured the 1st position in HSSLC (Arts), were felicitated during the program.

    Other highlights of the day included a dance performed by the Sein Raij Jowai and Self-Help Group Members. I Phawa, Assistant Research Officer, Planning Branch, Jowai, gave the vote of thanks.
