KSU to hold public meeting against CAB on Jan 30
SHILLONG: The Khasi Students’ Union (KSU) has decided to hold a public meeting on January 30, to oppose the Citizenship Amendment Bill (CAB), which seeks to provide citizenship to immigrants from Pakistan, Afghanistan and Bangladesh.
In a statement issued here on Friday, KSU general secretary Donald V Thabah said the decision was taken based on the instruction given by the North East Student Organisations (NESO).
He informed that the proposed public meeting is scheduled to be held at the parking lot in Motphran.
“We urged the people of the state to join hands by attending the meeting to send a strong message to the Centre that we strongly opposed the CAB and we are not ready to become minority in our own homeland,” Thabah said.
He said the KSU and NESO also appeal to various NGOs including Garo Hills region to attend the meeting.
