KSU slams Guv for remark
The Khasi Students’ Union (KSU) has slammed the Governor Tathagata Roy for his recent statement against the union over issue related to migrant workers.
“It is not a crime to protect our own land. We as indigenous community have every right to demand for our protection,” KSU chief Lambokstarwell Marngar said in a statement issued here on Tuesday.
He said the statement by the Governor only shows that he is anti-tribal. “When our people are being discriminated in mainland India especially in view of the ongoing lockdown, then why governor is keeping quiet,” Marngar asked.
He said the governor is only fast in reacting when the Union apprehend migrant workers, who are violating the lockdown.
Last week, Roy said in his twitter message that it was completely unacceptable for an NGO to issue threat against migrant workers. He said no one should take the law in their own hand.
“Noticed a statement by an NGO that ‘if the (Meghalaya) State Govt is lenient…it will resort to its own ways of handling such matters’. Completely unacceptable. Spoke to CM today,” Governor had tweeted.
