KSU apprehends 24 suspected Bangladeshi nationals from Indo-Bangla border in SWKH
The Khasi Students’ Union (KSU) on Wednesday apprehended 24 suspected Bangladeshi nationals from along the international border with Bangladeshi in South West Khasi Hills District.
“Since they are highly suspected to be Bangladeshi nationals after they could not produce any valid documents, the KSU Ranikor Circle has immediately handed them over to the police for necessary action,” said a statement issued by the KSU here.
The KSU also urged the Border Security Force (BSF), police department and the district administration of South West Khasi Hills District to take necessary measures to prevent illegal entry of Bangladeshi nationals to Meghalaya in view of the ongoing unrest in that country.
“We also issue strict warning against contractors and employers from engaging Bangladeshi nationals as labourers,” it said. The KSU also warned to take stern action if the BSF and state authorities fail to take adequate measures against any illegal entry by Bangladeshi nationals into the state.
