KHNAM seeks action against BJP leader for misleading statement about Meghalaya
The Khun Hynniewtrep National Awakening Movement (KHNAM) on Tuesday filed an FIR against a BJP leader for misleading statement relating the affairs of the state of Meghalaya.
In the FIR submitted to the Officer in-charge Cyber Crime, KHNAM working president Thomas Passah said that Ashwini Updhyay, who is a lawyer and a BJP leader, in a video that went viral in social media, has made several statements, which are totally incorrect, misleading and more importantly sending a wrong message to the rest of the country on matters relating to the affairs of the state of Meghalaya.
“The above statement besides others made by the above named individual would draw a wrong picture above the functioning of the state to the whole country and might put in danger the citizens of the state studying/residing in other part of the country. Therefore, we file this first information report against the said person so that necessary action can be taken as per the law,” Passah said.
The FIR also quoted Ashwini Updhyay alleging “That the legislative, the executive and the judiciary is not functioning in the state of Meghalaya. That church have taken control of the whole state, and leaders of the church in the state are controlling the functions of the state. That, Hindus are getting exting and they are not allowed to practice their religion in the state. That, the police are not functioning and they are doing nothing in the state. That, the NGOs are just a group of robbers and extortionists and that the media in the state are not functioning.”
