Justice Mittal sworn in as new Meghalaya CJ
SHILLONG: Justice AK Mittal, a senior-most judge from Punjab on Tuesday sworn in as the new Chief Justice of the Meghalaya High Court.
Governor Tathagata Roy administered the oath of office to the new chief justice at the swearing in ceremony held at the Raj Bhavan here in the presence of chief minister Conrad K Sangma, cabinet ministers and other dignataries.
Speaking to reporters, Mittal said, “I would like to understand the difficulties of Meghalaya and would like to solve them also…”
“I will have to visit all the districts and see how things are functioning here to get first hand information and in view of the High Court also if anything is required I will make improvement,” he said.
His appointment was following the retirement of chief justice Mohammad Yaqoob Mir.
