Jowai Polytechnic empowers students and celebrates skills at “Technophilia” Exhibition
Jowai Polytechnic, located in the heart of Jowai town, is making significant strides in the field of education by empowering students and nurturing their skill development. The institution’s inaugural “Technophilia” exhibition, held on Wednesday, showcased a diverse range of talents while celebrating art, culture, and innovation.
In a region where opportunities for job-oriented education are limited, Jowai Polytechnic stands out as a beacon of hope. The exhibition served as a testament to the growing skills and newfound confidence of its students.
Addressing the gathering as the Chief Guest, DV Lyngdoh, Additional Deputy Commissioner, West Jaintia Hills District encouraged continuous learning and stressed the importance of stepping out of one’s comfort zone. She emphasized the need for teamwork and innovation in today’s highly interconnected world.
“Always believe in the power of continuous learning,” emphasized D. V. Lyngdoh. “There’s no end to knowledge, and there’s no end to learning. There’s no limit to achievements. As a student, you can learn from anyone, even from a young boy or girl. If you have the desire to learn, you can gain knowledge from anyone,” she added.
Principal SP Basaiawmoit underscored the importance of exposure in unlocking students’ potential.
“The primary objective of this event is to showcase the incredible talent, potential, and abilities of our students from departments like Automobile Engineering, Architectural Assistantship and Costume Design & Garment Technology, offering three-year diploma courses that are highly competitive and comprehensive,” said the principal.
The exhibition recognized outstanding student projects across various departments, with winners in categories such as Automobile Engineering, Costume Design & Garment Technology, and Architectural Assistantship.
Among the notable achievers were: In the field of Automobile Engineering: First place – Electric bicycle (2023 batch) Second place – Electric bike (2019 batch) Third place – Electric 3 wheel (2022 batch).
In the Costume Design & Garment Technology department: First place – Mihsalan O-iaki Dkhar Second place – Rinayoodaka Dkhar Third place – Sowaka Dkhar.
In the Architectural Assistantship department: First place – Andrew W Lamin Second place – Deitre Laloo Third place – Mewanshanbok Niangti.
These achievements underscore Jowai Polytechnic’s commitment to nurturing talent and fostering a creative culture and innovation among its students.
