Jowai celebrates National Milk Day with focus on dairy awareness
The National Milk Day was celebrated today at the Jowai Dairy Plant campus in Mooralong, Jowai, with Additional Deputy Commissioner D.V. Lyngdoh as the Chief Guest.
During the event, the office presented motivational awards to Robinus Saioo and Banteilang in recognition of their association and valuable contributions to the dairy plant.
Speaking as the Chief Guest, D.V. Lyngdoh emphasized the significance of milk in daily life, describing it as a complete and essential food vital for growth and overall health. She highlighted that while some regions fully recognize the importance of milk in a balanced diet, its value is often overlooked in this region.
She encouraged collective efforts to raise awareness about the health benefits of milk and its inclusion in regular diets. Lyngdoh commended the organizers for involving schools and colleges through competitions and programs, noting that such initiatives not only educate but also inspire young students to adopt healthy habits. She urged the community to promote the benefits of milk, especially among children.
Dr. N. Marbaniang, District A.H. & Veterinary Officer, Jowai, stated that National Milk Day is celebrated annually to raise awareness about the importance of dairy products in a healthy diet and their role in overall nutrition.
In her welcome address, M. Shylla, Senior Dairy Plant Officer, Jowai, mentioned that a series of competitions and awareness programs were conducted ahead of the celebration to highlight the importance of milk. The winners of these competitions were awarded certificates during the event.
