Jowai Bypass’s robbers arrested with arms
West Jaintia Hills District Police busted a gang of dacoits actively operating in Jowai Bypass Road area after trailing for close to a week and managed to arrest 4 (four) persons and recovered one country made pistol with live ammunition.
Superintendent of Police, Bikram D Marak said with the arrest of this dacoit, police have recovered one dagger, one local made pistol, 6(six) rounds of .22 live ammunition, 2 (two) mobile phones and 2 (two) battery of truck.
He also said one maruti 800 car used in the commission of the offence was also seized in the process.
In this connection the case has been registered under appropriate sections of law.
It may be mention that one Thehbiang Talang (27) from Barato Village was arrested for his involvement in looting a truck driver at the Jowai bypass on October 10 after the FIR was lodged by a truck driver.
With the arrest of Thehbiang Talang lead to the arrest of 3 others accused and recovered arms and ammunition.
The arrest was made based on the FIR filed by the truck driver Saiful Islam in his complaint informed that four miscreants, who came in a maruti car (WB-02R-4019), broke the windshield of his truck, while it was parked at the Jowai bypass road on October 7. He said the miscreants also assaulted him and his helper at pistol/knife point and robbed Rs 4,000, mobile phone and two batteries from them.
