JHADC takes on KAAC for referring Mukroh people as illegal settlers
Taking on the Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council (KAAC) by its horns, the Jaintia Hills Autonomous District Council (JHADC) vowed to protect and defend its territorial integrity and fight for the return of the Pnar Villages in Block-I to Meghalaya and will ensure inch of our lands will be given away.
The KAAC chief executive member during his visit to Mukroh on Tuesday said, “we will not compromise with the territorial integrity of Karbi Anglong, not even an inch of lands will be given to illegal settlers.”
Informing this media persons after meeting the members of Save Hynniewtrep Mission, JHADC Chief Executive Member Thombor Shiwat refuted the claim of Assam Government and Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council (KAAC) Chief Executive Member Tuliram Ronghang that Mukroh is a disputed area.
He also said that Mukroh is age old village under the ambit of JHADC and Meghalaya while adding that Council issued Sanad to the Waheh Shnong of Mukroh Village.
Shiwat said the JHADC will be there with their people living in the border areas and also assured the protection of JHADC in case of any aggression from the other side.
Meanwhile, venting out their anger over the statement of the terming of Mukroh people as illegal settlers, the members of the Save Hynniewtrep Mission (SHM) burnt copies of the print out of statement made by Ronghang on Wednesday in JHADC’s office complex, Jowai.
SHM leader and HYC President Robertjune Kharjahrin flayed Ronghang for making such a statement hurting the sentiment of Khasi Pnar people who recently lost five of their brethern at the bullets of Assam forest and Assam police personnel.
He also said the KAAC came into existence only in 1952 so how they can bragged about who are illegal settlers for the Pnar people resided in Mukroh and other areas for past several centuries.
