JF Kharshiing quits Congress
SHILLONG: Congress leader John F Kharshiing has decided to quit the party just ahead of the coming Lok Sabha elections to the Shillong and Tura parliamentary seats on April 11.
In his resignation letter submitted to the Meghalaya Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) chief Dr Celestine Lyngdoh on Friday, Kharshiing said, “…in the interest of the core political issue of the Khasi, Jaintia and Garo people, and after much thought, deliberation and consideration, I have decided to resign as member of the Indian National Congress (INC) party with immediate effect from today.”
Kharshiing said that it has been a privilege for him to have been associated with the party as primary member, vice President and as general secretary of the MPCC since his joining the INC in September 2012.
Meanwhile, the MPCC general secretary WK Kyndiah informed that the party has accepted Kharshiing’s resignation letter.
