International Nurses Day celebrated in West Jaintia Hills
The Trained Nurses Association of India, West Jaintia Hills Unit on Friday celebrated International Nurses Day at Presbyterian Higher Secondary School, Modop, Nartiang on the theme, “Our Nurses, Our Future”. The Day is celebrated every year on 12 May to honour the contribution of the Nurses.
Jowai MLA Wailadmiki Shylla graced the occasion as the chief guest and Dr. A.M Paswett, District Nodal Officer, District Mental Health Programme as the guest of honour. Dr. R.Pohsnem, Sr M.O, I/c Nartiang PHC was also present.
The celebration began with lighting of the lamp by the chief guest followed by the Nurses Anthem led by I Dhar, Assistant Nursing Superintendent Woodland WK Hospital, Sabahmuswang.
Applauding the Nurses fraternity for the selfless service and dedication, he extended his sincere gratitude to all the nurses for choosing this toughest job by willingly rendering their service to the patients with care and compassion. He extended his appreciation by saying that despite the challenging and demanding nature of work yet they never cease to render their service to mankind with pleasant smiles and loving care. He also motivated them to continue the good work and to always be available for the patients.
He mentioned that the MDA Government has already taken the initiatives and is focusing on the issues related to health and he assured them of his availability to listen and to take up matters with the Health Department in case they need any kind of assistance or face problems regarding Health infrastructure.
He also informed that from the National Rural Health Mission two Urban Health centres have been sanctioned one in Iawmusiang and one in Mihmyntdu which will be a blessing for the people of that area.
Dr. R.Pohsnem, Sr M.O, I/c Nartiang PHC who also spoke on the occasion acknowledged and appreciated the remarkable contribution of nurses in the healthcare sector.
Phiralin Kharongor, Associate Professor North Adventist College of Nursing in her keynote address highlighted the theme of the day.
The Nurses Association had also presented mementos of appreciation to Rtd Nurses for the service they rendered.
Earlier, the welcomed address was offered by T Lapasam , CHO Nartiang PHC and the vote of thanks by S Suchaing, Ward I/c Jowai Civil Hospital Ialong. The function was chaired by I Pohktai PHN O/o DMHO, Jowai (ADIPR)
