IMA cannot override Land Transfer Act: Cong

The opposition Congress chief Vincent H Pala has said the Investment Meghalaya Agency (IMA) cannot override the Land Transfer Act.

“If they (government) dont amend the land transfer act, the IMA cannot override the Land Transfer Act,” Pala said.

“As long as they have not amend the Land Transfer Act, the notification cannot supersede the Act,” he added.

The government’s decision to approve the amendment of the Meghalaya State Investment Promotion Facilitation Act, which seeks to allow the Investment Meghalaya Agency (IMA) to buy land and provide the same to investors, have evoked stiff opposition from several quarters.
