HITO demands raids by ED & CBI Investigation against MLAs of MDA Govt by February 23rd
The HITO Central Body on Saturday urged Union Home Minister Amit Shah to direct Enforcement Directorate (ED) to raids, and make seizures and the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) to take up the investigation against the MLAs of the NPP led MDA govt involved/perpetrators of the various scams and acts of corruption in Meghalaya, latest by 23rd February, next.
In a letter to the Union Home Minister, HITO called for immediate action against the NPP led-MDA government for the grossand rampant acts of corruption and misappropriation of public funds in the state of Meghalaya by the concerned Ministers/MLAs.
“Sir, we have previously approached the Hon’ble Prime Minister’s Office, pertaining to the numerous scams and scandals committed by the State government, inter alia, the Coal scam, Teachers’ recruitment scam, Social Welfare Department rice scam, Saubhagya scam, ISBT scam, New Assembly building scam, ADC’s fund scam, Smart meters scam, Smart city scam, scam in the purchase, use of police HQ vehicles, Casino/Gambling fiasco, etc.; and had appealed to direct/ enforce a CBI enquiry and book all the corrupt ministers and officials of the state so as to bring a corruption-free and accountable governance in the state,” the letter said.
The HITO said as reported in the Shillong Times daily newspaper on 16th February, 2022, Shah while addressing a public meeting, had mentioned/admitted that there is rampant acts of corruption and misappropriation of funds caused by the NPP led-MDA government in the state, resulting to the state of Meghalaya being the most corrupt state in the country, and causing loss of thousands of crores of revenue to the State and the country as a whole.
The letter informed it is also prudent to mention that the upcoming General Elections to the Meghalaya Legislative Assembly is scheduled on 27th February, next (for voting) and results to be declared on 2nd March, next.
The letter asserted there is urgent need to direct the Enforcement Directorate (ED) to conduct necessary raids, seizures, etc. and the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) to take up the investigation against the persons involved/perpetrators of the various scams and acts of corruption in the State of Meghalaya, latest by 23rd February, next.
