BJP leader and cabinet minister AL Hek on Monday expressed confidence that his party will do well in the upcoming Gambegre bye-election to be held on November 13.

Speaking to reporters, Hek claimed that the election campaign meetings of the party he had attended were also filled with people.

“By looking at the people coming to listen to the election campaigning of the BJP, BJP is also in the race (to win the Gambegre seat),” he said.

Hek also said there is no question of the BJP and NPP fighting together in this election as they are fighting separately by fielding their own respective candidates.

He however admitted that all contesting political parties are strong contenders for the Gambegre seat.

On the other hand, Hek said that the party should contest all elections be it MP, MLA or MDC. He said that the party will soon select the potential candidates for the upcoming ADC elections in the Khasi and Jaintia Hills regions of the state.
