Govt to wait for inquiry report into MTET question leak
SHILLONG: Education Minister Lahkmen Rymbui today said the government is waiting for the inquiry report into the leakage of Meghalaya Teachers’ Training Eligibility Test (MTET) question papers before taking a decision on whether to conduct fresh examination.
Replying in the Assembly here on Tuesday, Rymbui informed that the fact finding team constituted by the government is yet to submit its report.
Earlier while raising his supplementary, opposition Congress legislator from Rajabala Dr Azad Zaman demanded the government to consider handing over the investigation to the central bureau of investigation (CBI).
NCP Gambegre legislator Saleng A Sangma also asked the government to dissolve the examination citing the incident has created lots of fear among the examinees.
“You should dissolve the examination to take away that fear in them and for the better of all people of the state,” Sangma said.
However, the education minister said that the government has decided to wait for the inquiry and assured all concerns will be taken care of.
“We will wait for the inquiry report and future course of action will be taken in the best interest of the people of the state,” he said.
Rymbui added that the inquiry report will find out the source of the leakage and to fix responsibility besides suggesting measures to improve the examination and ensure such incident do not repeat in the future.
Earlier, the minister informed that the question papers have been set by faculties from Directorate of Education Research & Training, District Institute of Education & Training, college lecturers and school teachers.
He said these question papers were printed at Neicom Impression, East Bye Lane 18, RGB, Road, Guwahati.
According to him, the question papers were brought from press under security cover and kept for safe custody till dispatch to different centres at the strong room of Directorate of Education Research & Training with tight security.
