Govt declared paid holiday

The Commissioner & Secretary to the Labour Department informed that the Government of Meghalaya has declared the 10^th May, 2023 a paid holiday for all Public/Private Commercial and Industrial Enterprise, etc (including shops and factories) situated under the 23-Sohiong (ST) Constituency in East Khasi Hills District to enable the voters to exercise their franchise in connection with the Bye Elections to the Meghalaya Legislative Assembly, 2023.

Meanwhile, the Chief Inspector of Boilers and Factories, Meghalaya has directed all factory owners in the State of Meghalaya to declare weekly holiday in their respective units on the date of poll on the 10^th May, 2023 instead of first day of the week as provided under Section 52 of the Factories Act, 1948 to enable the voters of 23-Sohiong (ST) Constituency to exercise their franchise on  the day of poll in connection to Bye Election 2023 to the Meghalaya Legislative Assembly, 2023.
