Govt ask DC, EJH to hold awareness on e-auction process of coal
SHILLONG: Commissioner & Secretary in charge Mining & Geology department Tining Dkhar today convened a meeting with the deputy commissioner of East Jaintia Hills District and coal miners to discuss on the e-auction process as per the recent judgment passed by the Supreme Court.
Dkhar has asked the DC to conduct an awareness programme to make people aware about the details of the e-auction process.
Speaking to reporters, the Commissioner & Secretary said the identification of the stock which is lying in different place will then be done by a team from the mining and geology department and once this is completed unique number to each stock will be issued. According to him, there are over 400 stock owners in East Jaintia Hills District.
Dkhar informed this will be followed by testing the quality of the coal before handing over to the Coal India Ltd for issuing of auctioning notice. There will be different prices as per quality of the coal.
Asked, Dkhar said out of the bidding price, the royalty due to the state government will be deducted besides the fund for restoration of environment and 10 per cent for Coal India Ltd while the balance amount will go to the miners.
He said, the process of auctioning will take around three-four months to complete.
