Govt approves farmers’ commission amendment bill
The state cabinet on Wednesday has approved the Meghalaya Farmers’ Commission (Amendment) Bill, 2020.
Addressing media persons, Deputy Chief Minister Prestone Tynsong said the amendment is related to the age of the chairman of the commission.
“Now we incorporated one more proposal and that is the age limit of any chairman to be appointed by the government should not be more than 65 years,” Tynsong said.
According to him, this is because the Act has only mentioned the tenure of the chairman which is for five years.
