Four years, no fanfare: Himanta Govt hits milestone as Assam BJP hails ‘transformative’ rule

As the Himanta Biswa Sarma-led government completes four years in office on May 10, the Assam BJP marked the occasion with praise for what it called a “vibrant and transformative” tenure—while choosing not to celebrate it amid heightened national security concerns.
In an official statement, Assam BJP president Dilip Saikia congratulated Chief Minister Sarma and thanked him on behalf of over 65 lakh party workers for his “visionary leadership” and commitment to development. “The government has turned the people’s aspirations into a tangible reality, driven by the guidance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi,” he said.
Saikia highlighted major gains under Sarma’s leadership—including improvements in infrastructure, education, healthcare, women’s empowerment, and economic growth. He described the governance model as one rooted in “Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas, Sabka Vishwas, and Sabka Prayas,” noting that it reflects transparency, inclusivity, and delivery-focused administration.
While the BJP hailed the milestone, it opted against grand celebrations. Citing the sensitive situation along India’s borders, Saikia said the party would instead stand in solidarity with the nation’s security forces. “This is a moment for unity, not festivity,” he added, paying tribute to the armed forces and their sacrifices.
Despite the low-key approach, the Assam BJP reaffirmed its resolve to continue serving the people with “unity, humility, and unwavering commitment.”
