In a remarkable achievement for the footballing community of West Jaintia Hills, four homegrown coaches have successfully earned the AFC C Diploma Coaching License, marking a significant step forward in grassroots football development in the region. The certification course was conducted by the All India Football Federation (AIFF) from March 12 to 23 in Shillong. The results were officially declared on April 16.

The newly certified coaches are Damehi Kyndiah, Joshwa Pohdweng, Timmy Ryngkhlem, and Aibormiki Suchiang—all hailing from West Jaintia Hills. Their accomplishment not only highlights individual dedication but also signals a promising future for football coaching and talent development in the district.

Three of the coaches – Kyndiah, Pohdweng, and Ryngkhlem were nominated and supported by the West Jaintia District Sports Association (WJDSA), which continues to play a key role in nurturing coaching talent in the area. Notably, Kyndiah and Pohdweng are currently coaching at North Liberty Higher Secondary School in Jowai, a well-regarded institution known for promoting sports and football at the grassroots level.

Aibormiki Suchiang, who pursued the certification independently, also brought pride to the district by earning the diploma on his own merit—underscoring the growing passion and dedication to football within the community.

In a joint statement, the coaches said: “We are incredibly thankful to the West Jaintia District Sports Association for its invaluable support and recommendation. This achievement has motivated us to work even harder for the development of football in our region.”

The AFC C Diploma is a foundational-level certification aimed at equipping coaches with key skills in football tactics, player development, and grassroots training. This success is expected to raise coaching standards and drive football development initiatives across West Jaintia Hills, positioning the district as an emerging hub of football excellence in Meghalaya.
