Flash flood affected NH-6 in Lumshnong now open to traffic

The Deputy Commissioner and Chairman District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA), East Jaintia Hills District, has lifted the vehicle restrictions on National Highway-6 in Lumshnong.
The order, issued on Friday, stated, “A report has been received by the Undersigned that the restoration works have been completed at National Highway-6, Lumshnong by the National Highway Authority of India (NHAI). As a result, the order issued vide No. EJHD/DDMA-11/Pt-III/2022/333 dated Khliehriat, the 30th May 2024, is hereby withdrawn with immediate effect.”

The restrictions, issued on May 30, 2024, due to heavy downpour and road vulnerability, are now withdrawn.
It may be mentioned that flash floods and landslides along NH-06 are regular occurrences, causing hardship to travellers and affecting both light and heavy vehicles traveling to other Northeastern states, including Mizoram, Tripura, Manipur, and Assam.
