    The Federation of Khasi, Garo & Jaintia People (FKGJP) Khliehriat Circle on Friday warned of drastic measures if the NHAI fails to repair and restore the damaged portion of the National Highway along Umtyra Village in East Jaintia Hills District.

    Informing media persons after meeting East Jaintia Hills District Deputy Commissioner at his office chamber, FKGJP President Michael Chyrmang said that they submitted a memorandum to the East Jaintia Hills District Deputy Commissioner.

    He also said that through the memorandum they reminded the Deputy Commissioner on their memorandum submitted vide memo no FKJGP/KC/GENL/2022/11 Dated Khliehriat the 28th July 2022.

    The memorandum informed that due to heavy rainfall during the month of June 2021 the portion of the NH-6 near Infiltration Check Point at Umtyraa Village was badly damaged and till date it has not been repair.
    .
    The FKJGP pointed out that due to damaged portion in the NH-6 the vehicular movement in the area is restricted leading to traffic snarls daily.

    Chyrmang also informed that the Deputy Commissioner will take up the matter with NHAI
