SHILLONG: Hundreds of farmers under the banner of Hill Farmer’s Union (HFU) today took out a protest march to the Khasi Hills Autonomous District Council (KHADC) and demanded the executive committee to put an end to the illegal practice of deducting the actual weight of agricultural produces at Iewduh market.
Following this, KHADC chief Teinwell Dkhar immediately called the leaders of the HFU for talks in the presence of EM in charge Market Jambor War.
War informed the delegation that a committee which has been tasked to look into the farmers’ issues has been formed under the chairmanship of the Deputy chief executive member Pyniaid Sing Syiem.
