Entire NPP cannot be blamed for statement of one individual, says Hek
BJP leader and cabinet minister AL Hek on Thursday said the National People’s Party (NPP) has not done anything negative against the party.
Speaking to reporters, Hek said, “I don’t see anything where they (NPP) are doing anything negative.”
BJP state vice president and Tura MDC Bernard N Marka had demanded NPP legislator from Mahendraganj Sanjay A Sangma to apologize for allegedly hurting the sentiments of BJP supporters in Garo Hills by claiming that NPP had switched off the BJP candidate.
Asked, Hek said a statement of one individual cannot be taken as a statement of the entire party. “This is the talk of one individual, we cannot blame the NPP,” he added.
The BJP leader said that the matter however was already taken up with the NPP national president Conrad K Sangma.
“Therefore, I request our NDA partners to refrain from any kind of provocation against BJP karyakartas,” he added.
Stating that the NDA is targeting to win 400 seats, Hek said, “Our target is for BJP along with NDA (partners should) win 400 seats.”
Whether BJP is eying for the Rajya Sabha seat from Meghalaya, Hek said he has no idea since the understanding is there with the national leaders and not the state BJP.
“See this is the all India election, this is not Meghalaya election, to take the decision, it has to be taken with all the alliance partners, the alliance partner is not only NPP, not only the other states, we have the alliance partner in many states. This is the understanding with all the NDA alliance partners, this is not happening only in Meghalaya, you see in Arunachal Pradesh both the seats the NPP and other political parties also has supported the BJP,” he said.
