DC, EKH files FIR against 41 wedding attendees

The Deputy Commissioner of East Khasi Hills Matsiewdor War Nongbri has filed an FIR against the 41 wedding attendees for violating COVID-19 protocols.

District police chief Sylvester Nongtnger said the FIR was received from the DC against the residents of Shillong who attended the wedding party at Greenwood Resort, Khanapara on June 27.

“The case is being registered at Sardar police station under appropriate section of the Disaster Management Act, Epidemic Diseases Act, and Meghalaya Epidemic Diseases Covid 19 Regulation, 2020,” he said.

It may be mentioned here that the FIR was filed based on the direction of the state government. At least 10 persons related to the wedding party have been tested positive for COVID-19 so far.
