DC certified Seng Khasi School as best Corona Care Centre so far
In view of the surging COVID-19 cases in the State of Meghalaya, the Government thought it necessary to set up cluster wise Community Corona Care Centres, which would help in admitting needy patients of ‘A’, ‘B’ and ‘C’ categories, as the available capacity in the Government and Private Hospitals may be insufficient to meet this surge.
As part of the efforts made by the district administration towards containing the spread of Covid-19, Zone IV under Lumdiengjri police station has opened its second Community Corona Care Centre for males at Seng Khasi Higher Secondary School in Jaiaw Laitdom, Jaiaw, Shillong.
The Deputy Commissioner of East Khasi Hills District, Isawanda Laloo visited the centre on the 8th of June 2021 for a round of inspection. She was ushered in by B Ranee the Incident Commander of Zone IV and Sumendra Nongkynrih, Executive Magistrate of Jaiaw area. Also present is the Head Man of Jaiaw Laitdom, SB Kharbyngar and member of the Seng Khasi Covid Relief Committee, Hammarsing Kharhmar.
The DC opined that the Seng Khasi Kmie, Mawkhar has been very kind to have offered this property of the Seng Khasi Higher Secondary School, Jaiaw to operate as a Community Corona Care Centre. She is also thankful to the Jaiaw Dorbar for their initiative to bring this to reality not forgetting the Health and Family Welfare department, Government of Meghalaya.
While doing the rounds the DC was introduced to all the staff involved at the centre namely the Nursing staff, housekeeping staff, food handlers, receptionist and the security. She briefed them of their duties and roles in the centre.
The centre is three floored. The ground floor houses the nursing station, store and logistics, the first floor has 22 beds mostly reserved for the category ‘C’ and ‘B’ patients whereas the second floor with 28 beds is for the category ‘A’ patients.
The DC gave a motivational speech to the staff with reminders that responsibilities lies totally in their performances and that, care, love and kindness should be shown to the patients because she feels that other than medical assistance even counsel in mental and spiritual being also plays a big difference.
After thorough inspection the DC expressed her utmost satisfaction with the preparations and praised the Premises and the surroundings believing that the well ventilated and spacious rooms with all amenities stands as the best Corona Care Centre that she had visited and inspected in the District.
All specified health protocols was followed in accordance with the specifications laid down by the Health and Family Welfare department in building this Centre.
This Community Corona Care Centre which is strictly for males and can house 50 patients at one time was formally handed over to the Health and Family Welfare Department for operations and the Zone Helpline/War Room Phone number is 60093 11104.
