Reiterating its commitment to empowering youth through skill development, Dalmia Bharat Foundation (DBF), the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) arm of Dalmia Cement (Bharat) Ltd (DCBL) has introduced a new course on Domestic Data Entry Operator at its Common Service Lab (CSL) in Lumshnong, Meghalaya.

In response to the limited availability of skill development infrastructure in the remote East Jaintia Hills district, DBF has introduced this course to provide rural youth with vital employability skills. The inaugural batch, consisting of 28 youths, of whom 75% are women, will undergo free, high-quality training. The skills acquired from this course are anticipated to meet the demands of the growing business ventures in the town.

The day was also marked by a valedictory session for the 12th batch of the Digital Literacy course, where certificates were distributed to 20 youths. The ceremony was graced by Vinay Kumar Mishra, Head, HR, DCBL, Meghalaya along with Jitumoni Kalita from Dalmia Bharat Foundation.

“Dalmia Bharat remains steadfast in its dedication to promoting skill development and sustainable livelihoods among rural communities in Meghalaya and the broader North Eastern region.” said  Raju Ranjan Prasad, Unit Head – Meghalaya, DCBL, commenting on the initiative, “Observing the increasing economic activities and business developments in our area, we recognized the necessity for specialized skills. This program aims to empower our youth, especially women, by providing them with the necessary training to thrive in the job market, thereby enhancing local economic growth and community development. We are confident that this program will pave the way for success, nurturing capable individuals ready to contribute meaningfully to the workforce.”

The Common Service Lab (CSL), an initiative by DBF focuses on digital literacy, empowers students to enhance their digital and financial skills, preparing them for success in the digital age and improving their employability. Since its establishment in Lumshnong, the CSL has played a crucial role in offering Digital and Financial Literacy courses, aiming to narrow the digital gap among young people. More than 200 youths have gained valuable skills through these programs.
