    The Deputy Commissioner of West Jaintia Hills District has issued an order directing the general public to continue wearing masks in public places properly. Covering both nose and mouth is necessary.

    The order was issued in compliance to the Advisory issued by the Health & Family Welfare Department, Government of Meghalaya relating to COVID-19 pandemic.

    The order also stated, “Only people with masks are allowed entry to public places like government offices, schools, markets, places of entertainment, places of worship. The general public is also advised to wash their hands frequently and keep a distance of 6 feet from each other.”

    Any violation shall be liable to fine under the Disaster Management Act, 2005 and Meghalaya Epidemic Diseases, COVID-19 Regulation 2020.
