Construction of Hospitality complex worth 36 crores laid in West Jaintia Hills
A multi crore hospitality complex will be coming out soon in Thadlaskein area under West Jaintia Hills District, which will be a major tourist attraction of the district.
Initiated by the Meghalaya Tourism Department, the Hospitality Complex will be constructed on lands belonging to the Meghalaya Fishery department and it was handed to Tourism Department on the first site of a total area of 5 acres. Another plot of lands have been donated by Mukhla Dorbar Pyllun for construction of the resort at an area of 0.73 acres
The hospitality complex which is the first of its kind in Jaintia Hills region will be constructed at an estimated approximately 36 cores.
The Complex will be creating a vibrant contemporary and eco sensitive hospitality for Jaintia Hills District.
The Complex will housed a 30 rooms hotels with pool, Spas, Restaurant, Gardens, Café, Bar, Visitors’ Center, two Banquet Halls for 200 persons, Convention Hall for 500 persons, kids play area, Amphitheatre, 32 Retail Shops and Shaded plaza.
While the other site of resort will be 7 numbers including boating point view, pathway view and fishing.
Meanwhile, the foundation stone laid for the construction of hospitality complex was laid by Tourism Minister Sniawbhalang Dhar along with C&RD Minister Hamlet Dohling and Jowai MLA Wailadmiki Shylla.
Director of Tourism Department Shri, C.V Diengdoh,IAS, Director of C& RD Department Shri. SC Sadhu, IAS Deputy Commissioner, West Jaintia Hills Shri. B.S Sohliya, IAS were also present.
Dhar said that the setup of the Hospitality Complex will serve the purpose for many unemployed youths as well as will boost the Tourism in the District and will also serve the needs of those passing by the region.
He highlighted that the Hospitality complex will directly or indirectly employ minimum 200 to 250 employees which includes lodging, food service, tourism, conduct meeting, banquets halls and others and will also have the Children’s park. He also mentioned that the project has been sanctioned under the Head of State Planning, Government of Meghalaya.
