    The District Legal Services Authority (DLSA), East Jaintia Hills District along with the Office of the District and Session Judge, East Jaintia Hills District in collaboration with the Khliehriat Bar Association, Jaintia Eastern College, St Anthony’s College Extension, Byndihati, Ambrose Memorial School and Khliehriat Higher Secondary School today organized a Cleaning Drive at Iew Pynkat Market, Khliehriat.

    Earlier, a short awareness programme was held where in the District Session Judge, Smt. G. Ranee in her speech said that civic sense needs to be instill in children and in every individual so that they learn to practice cleanliness habits and keeping the surroundings clean, which should first start from home. She appealed to all the students to create awareness and educate others on the importance of cleanliness and she urged them to keep their homes, schools, colleges, localities, public places and surroundings clean, to set an example for others not to throw garbage and litter around in public places and to use garbage bins for disposal of waste.

    The programme was chaired by Shri. K. Ksoo, President, Khliehriat Bar Association. Others who also spoke during the programme includes Shri. D.S Marbaniang, CJM, Secretary, District Legal Services Authority (DLSA), East Jaintia Hills District, Dr. P. Nongtdu, Principal Jaintia Eastern College and Shri. R. War, General Secretary, Khliehriat Bar Association who offered the vote of thanks.

    The cleaning drive was participated by the officers and employees of Office of the District and Session Judge, East Jaintia Hills District, Members of the Khliehriat Bar Association, Officers and staff of Khliehriat Police Station, school and college students, local headman and the residents of Khliehriat West.
