The opposition Congress on Wednesday asked the ruling members to move a No-confidence motion against the Conrad K Sangma-led MDA government during the autumn session of the state Assembly, which will commence from September 10.

When asked if the opposition is preparing to move a no trust motion against the government, Leader of Opposition and former Chief Minister Mukul Sangma however told reporters that the people of the state this time wanted the ruling members to do it.

“People of the state are telling us that this time members who are in the ruling dispensation should table a No-confidence motion against the government – that is the inputs that have been shared with us,” he said

“If anybody tables, we will be there (to support),” Mukul added.

Stating that the suggestion has come from the people of the state, the Leader of Opposition said, “So we will wait for that. They (people) are telling us and they are telling them also I am told now whether they (ruling members) agree or not it is up to them but if they table then we are there.”

He continued, “You all asked what is the solution to all those alleged irregularities and instances of corruption which is going on with complete impunity and the lack of response to deal with any instances of allegations when brought before the government, the constant denial mode on those instances allegations, prompt denial – I had said that I don’t find any solution until  and unless somebody else is asked to probably be serious about taking cognizance of those issues and looking at correcting them.”
