In response to the devastating fire that destroyed an entire building in Police Bazaar, Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma on Monday directed immediate actions to address the situation. The incident, which persisted for over 24 hours and tragically claimed one life, has prompted a robust government response.

Notably, Chief Minister Sangma has ordered a thorough safety audit of the affected building, with a specific focus on determining the cause of the fire and implementing preventive measures. This move underscores the government’s commitment to ensuring the safety of its citizens.

Conrad said that a cabinet meeting on October 18 will be held to discuss the entire matter. He also said that safety audits and other measures will also be taken up to ensure that such situations do not arise in the future.
