Centre releases Rs 53 Cr for clearing two-month salary of SSA teachers
The Centre has released Rs 53 crore for clearing the pending salaries of over 12,541 Samagra Shiksha Abhiyan (SSA) teachers in Meghalaya.
Informing this on Thursday, Education Minister Lahkmen Rymbui said, “Yesterday only, the Government of India has released an amount of Rs 53 crore as the balance of the first installment.”
He also announced that the two month salary will accordingly be released to the SSA teachers.
Rymbui further assured that the state government will continue to pursue with the Government of India for the release of the second installment as well.
This came a day after the SSA teachers launched the non cooperation movement against the government’s failure to release their pending salaries.
When asked, education minister said, “Yes (total we have released salaries for four months) but we don’t know in the next sitting maybe will release four-five months but we are working with the Government of India at least for salary part they should release as early as possible so that we could ease the problems of the teachers.”
“We are here to serve the people of the state to the best of our abilities. We never shy away from our responsibility and we are very clear with our communication with our stakeholders on what we can do and what we cannot do,” he added.
Stating that the government always try to find ways and means to solve issues at hand which affect not only the teachers but the other stakeholders as well, Rymbui said, “I appeal to each and everyone they should understand that the government is doing to the best of its abilities and we will do more subject to the availability of funds.”
Meanwhile, the education minister said once the amount comes, the bank will immediately release it to the respective DMCs for release to the respective stakeholders.
