Carpentry Skills Program launched in Amlarem
The Community Institute of Technology (CIT) in Amlarem launched a Skill Training Program in Carpenter Wooden Furniture on May 24, to empower unemployed youth in West Jaintia Hills.
Sponsored by the Meghalaya State Skill Development Society (MSSDS) under the Skills Meghalaya Project, the program aims to equip participants with essential carpentry skills, reduce unemployment, and promote self-sufficiency.
The inauguration was held at the CIT Amlarem Centre in the presence of GLC Mylliem, Block Development Officer and Assistant Commissioner of Amlarem Sub-Division, as the Chief Guest.
The event was presided over by L Lanong, Secretary and Director of CIT and attended by Lambormi Suchen, Skill Development Officer of MSSDS, Kolmen Pohshna, Advisor of Synjuk Waheh Shnong War Jaintia, Kampher Pohlong, Headman of Amlarem Village and Secretary of Synjuk Waheh Shnong Ri Lum Jaintia, local headmen and representatives, trainees, trainers, and staff of CIT Amlarem.
GLC Mylliem emphasized the importance of skill development for enhancing employability and boosting the local economy. He encouraged trainees to persevere and think creatively to expand their market reach.
The program’s goals are to increase employability, promote entrepreneurship, and support the local economy with a skilled workforce. The event concluded with a vote of thanks from Lydia Bareh, Assistant Trainer at CIT Amlarem.
