Campaigning ends for LS polls in Meghalaya
SHILLONG: Campaigning for the April 11 Lok Sabha elections to the Shillong and Tura parliamentary seats ended peacefully on Tuesday.
Chief electoral officer FR Kharkongor said the campaigning by different political parties ended at 4 pm.
Altogether nine candidates are in the race for the Shillong and Tura parliamentary constituencies.
Shillong constituency is having six candidates which include sitting MP Vincent H Pala (Congress), Jemino Mawthoh (UDP), Sanbor Shullai (BJP) and three Independents – THS Bonney, Samuel Hashah and Romeo Phira Rani.
Meanwhile, the candidates for the Tura seat include former chief minister and Leader of Opposition Mukul Sangma (Congress), former Tura MP Agatha K Sangma (NPP) and Rikman G Momin (BJP).
