BSF seized Rs 10 lakh contraband at Meghalaya border
In its continuous efforts to curb smuggling, on November 19, vigilant troops of BSF Meghalaya successfully thwarted an attempt to smuggle contraband items worth Rs.10 lakhs at the international border in Meghalaya. The items were intended to be smuggled into Bangladesh through the border area of the East Khasi Hills district.
A statement from the Public Relations Officer (PRO) of BSF Meghalaya said that, acting on specific information, troops of the 4th Battalion BSF conducted a special operation near the international border and successfully seized the items, which were concealed in a jungle area near the border.
The seized items have been handed over to the Customs Office at Pynursla for further necessary action.
