Acting on tip off, in the wee hours of Saturday, BSF troops observed movement of some persons near the border fencing in area of Kalaichar, South West Garo hills. On being challenged by BSF troops, smugglers fled away taking the advantage of darkness and downpour.

The BSF team carried out search operation and recovered 11 kg ganja, wrapped in 4 plastic bags. Later on, seized ganja handed over to Meghalaya police for further legal action and disposal.

Sh U K Nayal, DIG/PRO said, “BSF is fighting with Covid-19 by taking preventing measures on one hand and providing basic amenities to needy border population for their sustenance  on the other hand. Apart from it, BSF is keeping close watch to curb the illegal activities of miscreants on Indo-Bangladesh border. BSF intensified its vigil to prevent such type of attempts.”
